My Story
I am a Punjabi woman living in Ontario, Canada. I have been working in the mental health field since 2004 which is also when I got married. I have two teenage children for which I try as much as I can to break intergenerational cycles.
I came to Canada at 1.5 years old with my two eldest sisters (who are 10 and 12 years older than me respectively) and my parents. My brother was born five years later.
I want people to know that I have been where you are. I spent year trying to figure out how to do what makes sense to ME, this Canadian culture I had grown up in and what I learned at home.
It was TOUGH. Like really tough. Through perseverence, a lot of self reflection and awareneness and my social work education, I learned what it takes to honour my cultural values as well as my own.

Do I still stumble at times? Oh absolutely! But, I wouldn't be human if I didn't.

I welcome you on this journey to living a life that feels balanced and is never one thing or the other.
